Welcome to A period's AP Euro Review Wiki

We will use this collaborative work space to create review pages for each topic of study. As a class, you will build multimedia pages with visuals, key terms, website links, video and audio - pretty much anything you can find that is useful and relevant to the topic. Key Terms lists for each unit will be posted here and that is how you will begin building a page.

What are Key Terms?

Each list of key terms includes people and events that I consider to be essential for this course. Entries for each of the key terms should include the following information:
  • WHO/WHAT/WHERE: A one-two sentence description of the person or event. It should be clear and concise but as comprehensive as possible.
  • WHEN: Provide exact dates. If it is a person, it should be birth and death dates (for national leaders, the dates they were in power should be included as well.)
  • HOW: A one-two sentence description of the way in which the person or event contributed to the era.
  • WHY: A summary statement of the person’s or event’s historical significance. Why is it important that you remember this person?

Each key term should have a minimum of five sentences and a maximum of seven sentences. Therefore, it is important to choose the most essential information to demonstrate the term's historical significance. The key terms must be written in your own words; therefore, you should not copy and paste definitions from the web (Wikipedia, etc.). You may use web-based sources to formulate your ideas, but your textbook, review book, fat book and lecture notes can also be valuable resources as well.

Since this is a visual and interactive space, it is important to include a visual for each term. You are also encouraged to include videos and links where possible.

Baldassare Castiglione: (1478-1529)
Castiglione was an Italian diplomat and author of The Courtier. In this book, Castiglione describes the characteristics of the ideal Renaissance courtier (gentleman) as well as an ideal woman of the era. This "Renaissance man" should be athletic, artistic, educated in the humanities, and able to speak and write well, and became a model to which the well-to-do of this era aspired. His book provided an insight into the character traits, physical attributes, and talents which were valued in Renaissance society and have continued to shape western education to this day.

The wiki is your workspace, and you have creative license over the formatting of the information; however, I ask that you do not modify the template itself. Also, your pages should have a certain degree of uniformity so that visitors to your pages know where to find information.
